Synopsis

iMaths is a series of six books written in accordance with the latest MOE syllabus. Specifically conceptualized with today’s media-savvy child in mind, each book comprises study notes, graded topical exercises, worked examples, detailed solutions and a companion DVD for self-learning. The book contains challenging questions to stretch students of higher ability and provide them with exposure to the vast variety of ways in which Mathematical concepts may be applied.

Each topic has been thoughtfully authored and edited to:

  • Enable students to reinforce key concepts learnt in the topic.

  • Help students build up their confidence in answering examination-formatted questions in tests and examinations.

  • Guide students in solving questions in Sections B and C that require more analytical skills and careful workings.

  • Sustain the interest of students who already enjoy Mathematics through creative problem sums.

Critical thinking questions are marked with (*). These questions focus on process skills for problem solving and require higher order thinking. They enable students to identify the areas in which they can improve and equip them with the techniques to achieve A*. Detailed Solutions to every question are available online. They are laid out using a Marking Scheme approach. Formulated with reference to actual marking schemes of school papers, this approach provides parents with a guide on how marks should be awarded and deducted, in line with school standards.

Integrated Learning is a key feature of this series. Recognizing that children have different learning styles and learn best when more than one of their fi ve senses is engaged, the companion DVD contains audiovisual presentations by experienced teachers that promise to be entertaining and memorable. The presentations include detailed explanations of selected challenging questions, teaching of essential model- drawing skills, multiple approaches to solving questions, and handy tips and reminders, amongst others.
